Overview

Price tells you where the market went. Volume tells you how much effort it took to get there, and those two things disagreeing is one of the more useful signals in technical analysis.

Volume Pulse splits each bar into estimated buying and selling pressure and plots the difference as a delta histogram, with a cumulative line so you can see whether pressure is building or fading across a move. A volume profile of the visible range marks the high-volume node and the value area, which is where price has spent most of its time and tends to return to.

The dashboard carries the current pressure balance, the cumulative delta trend, and a note when price and delta disagree — the divergence that usually precedes a stall.

Signal behaviour

Every TradingVAI product states plainly how it behaves as new bars arrive. This one is classified as non repainting.

How this tool behaves on the chart

Non-repainting

Once a signal is printed on a closed bar it never moves or disappears. What you see in history is what you would have seen live.

Pressure, delta and money flow are computed per closed bar and never revised. The volume profile is recalculated as the visible range changes — that is a property of the range, not of the past: the bars in it keep their original values. Divergence notes are printed only on closed bars.

Questions

Where does the buy/sell split come from?

It is estimated from where the close sits within the bar range, weighted by volume. On instruments with true tick data the estimate is close; on instruments where the broker reports tick volume rather than real volume, treat it as relative rather than absolute.

Does it work on forex?

Partly. Most forex feeds report tick volume, not traded volume, so the readings are useful for relative comparison within the same instrument but should not be compared across brokers. Crypto and equities give better data.

What is the value area?

The price range containing the configured share of the visible volume, 70% by default. It is where the market has agreed on price, and price tends to return to it after excursions.
